Monday, May 25, 2026: Memorial Day Parade

• 12 noon start at Chase Circle with stops at Nichols Library, Town Docks and Town Cemetery
• Inter-Lakes High School Marching Band; local scouts walking
• Looking for Center Harbor Veterans to walk/ride in the parade (contact Nancy Bickford at 603-455-1632 or by email: parksandrecreation@centerharbornh.gov to participate)
• Small social hour after parade with drinks and treats

Saturday, July 4, 2026 Activities All day starting at 9 a.m.

• 9 a.m.: Children’s footraces
• 10 a.m.: 1.776 mile and 5-mile footrace start (race map)
• 1 p.m.: Parade starts at Chase Circle (parade route): THEME: America 250! Looking for various participants, walkers, decorated bikes, floats, antique cars, etc.
• There will be ribbons and trophies as well as monetary prizes for top participants.
• Get your family, your friends or even your business ready to participate!
• 6 p.m.: Town Band Concert at the Bandstand (band schedule)
• Dusk: Fireworks

Sunday, July 5, 2026 at 7 p.m.: Redcoats & Rebels: New Hampshire and the American Revolution

This presentation starts at 7 p.m.

New Hampshire often gets overlooked in the narrative of the American Revolution, overshadowed by its noisy neighbor to the south. Nowadays, few people know about Paul Revere’s first ride, which was to Portsmouth in December 1774 to warn the patriots that the British were coming to reinforce Fort William and Mary, five months before the Redcoats marched on Concord and Lexington. Nor do they know that two-thirds of the troops at the Battle of Bunker Hill were from New Hampshire.

Most people are also unaware that New Hampshire’s Provincial Congress adopted the first state constitution in January 1776, making no mention of royal authority and essentially declaring independence from Great Britain six months before anyone else. And this is just the beginning of New Hampshire’s revolutionary story.

This presentation is made possible to attend by New Hampshire Humanities. It is free to attend.

Sunday, September 6, 2026: Winnipesaukee Lantern Festival

This event is scheduled for the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Jared Maraio, General Manager of The Mount Washington Cruises, is working with the State of New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) regarding this event, which will feature luminarias. The Mount Washington will be open to the public with music on the ship and local businesses will be asked to participate. The festival will be a fundraiser for Lakes Region Tourism, kicking off on Mother’s Day.

The Selectmen will issue a Proclamation recognizing the 250th anniversary of Congress formally declaring the official Country name as “United States of America”.

Center Harbor Town Band

2026 Summer Band Concert Schedule

Dress prepared to work and bring a jug of water if possible. Tools and necessary equipment will be provided. Parking is limited so arranging to meet at the Town Hall and carpooling to the site is recommended.

Jess Davis is a teacher living in Brownfields Maine and has been restoring cemeteries and gravestones for over 20 years. She follows best practices set out by the Association for Gravestone Studies (AGS).

Municipal Resources Inc. (MRI) has partnered with the Town of Center Harbor to evaluate fire and rescue services looking at both the current and future service demand and organizational needs while focusing on the retention of on-call staffing.  

Gathering community input and feedback is an important part of this process. Partnering with the Town, we have developed a short survey to gather your input and service level expectations with the overall goal of improving the Center Harbor Fire Department.

The survey is open to all residents (year-round and seasonal) as well as all business owners. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey.

“After my retirement earlier this year, I found myself missing interaction with the public,” Jannelle said, “so I was excited to find the job posting with the Town of Center Harbor, a town I reside in and adore.”

Chief Chase said, “When I envisioned the person who would help in the day-to-day operations of the department, I never imagined the role being filled by a person with Janelle’s experience. It is truly a great match for what this town needs and what Janelle can provide.”

Janelle appreciates the outdoors and likes to keep active by biking, walking, and gardening, and recently learned to play Pickleball.  She enjoys spending as much time as she can with her husband, five children, and two grandchildren.

The town has procured trash bags, safety vests, and gloves for volunteers who decide they would like to do some roadside cleanup.  People are more than welcome to cleanup All public town roads on ANY day and we will pick up the bags.

To volunteer and coordinate with the town contact the Town Office at townoffice@centerharbornh.gov or call 603.253.4561 asking for the Gary regarding roadside cleanup.  He will coordinate with you the number of bags, vests, and gloves that you need for the cleanup.

• Main Street - Cut or mill pavement from Route 25/Coe Hill Road to Center Harbor Congregational Church and repave.
• Main Street at Route 25B - Cut or mill at pavement at road joint and repave.
• Overlook Drive - Reconstruct intersection and possibly overlay street
• Wood Ridge Road - Reconstruct and repave intersection to Waukewan Road and repair several shoulder locations up the road

Once you process your registration online, the Town Clerk will receive notice on the next business day and send the new registrations and decals to the mailing address on the registration. 

If renewing a dog license, the license must be valid over the prior year.

The town is looking for residents to join the Zoning Board of Adjustments (ZBA) as alternate members for a 3-year term. The ZBA review applications from residents that fall beyond the scope of the Zoning Ordinances. Read more about the process of through the Zoning Board of Adjustments bylaws.

The town is looking for residents to join the Heritage Commission for a 3-year term. The Heritage Commission mission is to strengthen and stimulate the local economy by recognizing the use and protection of resources and by encouraging the preservation and revival of historic buildings, structures and places.

The town is looking for a resident to join the Dr. Morrill Memorial Park Committee as alternate members for a 3-year term.
